Giveaways are a great way to get your company name to stay in the minds of attendees. Doing an early mailing to entice your visitors will also help draw them into your trade show display.

Justin,

Special events for clients or employees don't have to be extravagant, and with today's technologies such as dye sub printing and tension fabric, plus the flexibility of rental properties, event design firms such as Exhibit Resources can help produce events for a fraction of what it would have cost with older fabrication techniques. A careful management of promotion of special events is also wise. Event design firm professionals can also advise companies or their PR firms in how to promote their event so that it strikes the right balance.

Just wondering if you feel it's time to start doing things like this again for some companies? You see so much bad press these days when companies have extravagant parties when their bottom line is suffering.

I think you've hit on some great ideas for events such as grand openings, open houses, new product launches, dealer meetings and awards ceremonies but wonder if you have any recommendations on how to handle this from a political standpoint?

If you decided to have in-booth product demonstrations, or giveaway free product samples at your trade show booth, you might want to consider hiring promotional models. Their friendly faces will help create an atmosphere around your booth that is inviting to potential customers walking the trade show floor.

It is very important to maintain your marketing efforts during a recession. Recessions provide a rare opportunity for businesses to gain market share within their industry. If you are successful in gaining market share during down turns, you will see larger growth rates when the economy turns around.

If your company has cut your trade show budget, you should consider hiring promotional models for your next event. Although promo models can cost you anywhere from $30 - $50 per hour, they can eliminate any and all travel expenses associated with flying sales staff around the country (airfare, hotels, meals etc.). If you normally send 3-4 sales personnel to a trade show, consider sending only 2 and hiring promotional models to work as their assistants. Not only will save money on travel expenses but your sales numbers will get a boost from having qualified staff at your booth.

Numerous studies have shown that trade shows offer one of the most cost-effective ways to reach a large number of prospects, all at one time, all in one place. Studies have also shown that companies that stay in front of their customers during a recession are the ones that the customers remember when the recession comes to an end. So to me, it makes even more sense to exhibit during a recession!

I am always happy to find like-minded individuals, so thank you so much for posting this article, Page!!

Hi , I found this to be a very interesting and thought provoking article. I have a similar viewpoint on the subject of exhibiting during a unfavorable economic climate.

Keep up the good work!
